Find your town/area of interest and connect with the Town Leader

Use the JewishGen Communities Database to locate your town of interest by searching within the borders of a modern country, an interwar country, or a pre-World War I country. Once you have located your town and confirmed that the town falls within the research area for the Ukraine RD you can start your research.

Use either the clickable map on the Ukraine RD Home page or the alphabetical list of towns under the Ukraine RD Towns and Districts tab to navigate to the Ukraine RD Town Page. The town page lists geographical information, pronunciation of the town, and lists the Ukraine RD Town Leader. The Town Leader serves as a focal point for town information and can be a valuable resource for your research. Many towns have a dedicated website (KehilaLinks) with historical documents, photographs, surname lists, maps, and other resources which can provide a deeper understanding of your town. Kehilia means community in Hebrew. If one is available for your town there will be a link to the KehilaLinks page from the Ukraine RD Town Page. The KehilaLinks pages are also directly accessible from JewishGen.
